Best Of: This Conversation Will Change How You Think About Thinking
This podcast actually changed the way I thought about thinking. I think the most important takeaway was that "the brain is not a computer". As I've gotten more and more involved with computer science and especially machine learning, my mental model of computers and brains have started to converge. In some ways this is OK, possibly even helpful for machine learning research, but Annie Murphy Paul and Ezra Klein point out in this podcast, that I am, despite my best efforts still a human. The ability to push one's limits is commonly thought of as a virtue, but is it really the best way to extract the most work/best ideas out of oneself?
I should take more walks and take care of my body more.
