2021.11 - 2022.12 Phantom

By the time the epic was finished, neither of them knew how it'd started

Yep, that is not a typo in the title. This "first project" took Eric and me over a year. We didn't even really have to do any modeling for it, but it still took that long >=(...

Steps:

  1. "slice" and print pieces

  2. screw up some pieces and reprint them

  3. realize that printed pieces were not printed in the same orientation, resulting in inconsistent shrinkage and the pieces not fitting together

  4. sand by hand

  5. realize that sanding by hand would take a million years, and purchase disk sander head for drill

  6. take half a million years sanding the piece

  7. glue it together

  8. break by accident

  9. repeat steps 7&8 3 additional times

  10. in the process of removing the broken components, shatter the whole model pretty badly

  11. almost give up on life, but then put on big-girl pants and glue it back together

  12. re-model and reprint some pieces with a channel for a wooden dowel to go through

  13. purchase the wrong size wooden dowel and sand the dowel down to the right size (smh)

  14. Prime

  15. Paint!!

Considering that basically all of these steps were conducted on the weekends, AND I defended my thesis halfway through, I'd say it's frankly a miracle that it ever got done at all...
